About the M-6 Twin Car Rack

A sixteen-foot main-deck pallet moulded for car rack attachments, so two vehicles travel in a single pallet position.

The racks are a certified ULD component in their own right under code VRA, supplied in pairs at 130 kg. Two limits apply rather than one: 8,900 kg for the loaded pallet, and 1,800 kg for whatever sits on the upper rack.

What it carries

  • Cars and light vehicles
  • Motorcycles
  • Prototype and show vehicles

How it is built

  • A main-deck pallet with special moulding that takes the car rack attachments.
  • The support racks are supplied in pairs and are themselves a certified ULD component under code VRA.
  • The same system is available for longer vehicles on a twenty-foot pallet; the only change is the pallet tare weight, at 500 kg (1,102 lb).
  • A main-deck pallet base with moulded mounting points for rack attachments.
  • Support racks supplied in pairs, letting a second vehicle travel above the first.
  • Wheel restraints and lashing points engineered for vehicle loads.

Why it is used

  • Doubles the vehicles carried per pallet position by stacking them.
  • The racks are a certified ULD component in their own right, so no bespoke engineering is needed per shipment.
  • The same system is available on a longer pallet base for larger vehicles.

What to check before booking

  • The vehicle on the upper rack has its own weight limit, separate from the pallet total.
  • Vehicles must be drained and disconnected to satisfy dangerous goods rules.
  • Centre loading only on some aircraft.
